dsc_2187In your younger days did you ever expect the latest Michel Vaillant strip book?

Do you remember the emotion by discovering the cover in the library? Well I did! There aren’t enough words to describe the surprise and happiness of turning the pages and getting in the new album

This 22 of May 2011 it was not the latest Michel Vaillant that we where waiting for, but it is during the Porsche days at Spa Francorchamps that the Freeman Team reveals for the first time their two race Porsches in their new colours. Still in green white black they immediately made sensation in the paddock, I could notice that I was not the only one staring at the two German beauties. After looking closer I really could appreciated the same team colours in a more dynamic & aggressive design.

But I was about to discover that this would not be the only surprise of my day, back from breakfast Patrick Geladé invited me to get in the 2010 car for a few laps. Suddenly all goes quickly... just the time to do the administrative obligations and I there I am fastened in the passenger seat asking myself do I trust that guy!

Trying to make myself as comfortable as possible, I immediately feel all the sensations of noise, down force, heat and speed there is no doubt possible this is a real race car!

The first corner just leaves me with no voice; I discover the power of the brakes, grip of slick tyres and g force in high speed corners.

There are a lot of cars on the track and most of the other Porsches don't have our power so Patrick needs to anticipate all the taking over's the speed difference is just amazing, like a jet passing in a bird colony, this is also the Porsche days all kinds of cars but also all kind of drivers...

I was wondering how it was getting through the new buss stop chicane, well you arrive full throttles in six gear and on a few meters the corner jumps to your face as Patrick gets on the brakes and shift back from six to second gear an unbelievable feeling of he never will turn and before you realise he is already in full acceleration in from of the pits going to the source corner, there after we go to one of the most impressive track part in the world the famous Raidillon, just imagine full gas a small brake and again full gas in a corner where you can not see the exit!

During five laps my life troubles don't exist any more, I now understand the precious gift the sponsors do by offering their customers a few laps in such a car on such a famous race track.

I was just there to shoot some pictures from the new livery of the Freeman Team, and then It became an extraordinary experience from what a rider is to feel in his car during a race, but also for me the opportunity to realise how far my street car is from a race machine.

Thank you Patrick and I just cant wait for the next...
